Description
Keep your medical skills up to date and your certification valid for the wind energy sector.
In the wind energy sector — both onshore and offshore — every second counts in the event of a medical incident. As work is often carried out at height or in hard-to-reach locations, professional emergency services cannot always be on the scene immediately. The crucial initial response therefore rests entirely on your shoulders. With the GWO Enhanced First Aid Refresher, you’ll refresh your medical knowledge and practise essential skills in recognisable, realistic scenarios. This will ensure you can continue to act decisively under pressure and extend the validity of your official GWO EFA certificate.
What will you be revising and practising?
During this practical refresher course, the following topics will be covered in depth:
-
The CABCD protocol: Rapid and systematic assessment of casualties in life-threatening situations.
-
Radio Medical Contact (RMC): Communicating effectively with, and acting on the instructions of, a doctor or remote medical support service.
-
Advanced airway management: Advanced techniques and equipment to ensure a clear airway.
-
Haemorrhage control: Rapid and effective application of tourniquets and pressure dressings in the event of serious injury.
-
Extended Care: More extensive medical intervention to safely bridge longer waiting times and transport times to hospital, regardless of the wind farm’s location.
Who is this training for?
-
Target group: Professionals in the wind energy sector (both onshore and offshore) who hold a GWO Enhanced First Aid certificate and need to renew it in order to continue carrying out their work safely.
-
Entry requirements: Holders of a valid or recently expired GWO Enhanced First Aid certificate.
Why this refresher course?
-
Realistic scenario-based training: No dry theory, but hands-on practice focused on the challenges of working at height and in remote locations.
-
Immediate certificate renewal: Upon successful completion, your GWO EFA registration in WINDA will be fully up to date again.
-
Optimal safety everywhere: You are guaranteed to be prepared for complex medical emergencies at locations where the regular emergency services need extra time to reach the casualty.
